ABSTRACT

Treatment of skeletal class III malocclusion instances frequertly requires a combination of orthodontic and orthognatic surgery procedures. Application of such procedure not only significatly improves functional occlusion, but also facial structure as well. In order to prepare the patient for her/his new post treatment face, prediction of post-operative profile has been considered to be impotant. Consequently as to accompolish a reliable prediction, ten patients who were rendered orthognathic surgery and orthodontic treatment in our clinic are selected for this purpose. In our study in accordance with retraction of mandible; soft tissue chin, lower lip and upper lip are also moved back in the same manner and an increase in facial convexity, naso-labial angle are preformed. As a ten result of surgery elongation of upper lip and significant changes in the lower face ratio are also obtained.
