ABSTRACT

In the treatment of Class II Division 1 cases, skeletal changes are expected as well as dental changes. In this article, the treatment results of Class II division 1 cases in mixed dentition treated with high pull headgear which is applied in patients with vertical face development, are studied. In the treatment group of 30 patients, a 400–600 gr. of extraoral force was applied on only upper 1. molars through a face bow. The results of 9.9 months treatment period were compared with a control group for 1 year 6 months. As the 400–600 g. of high pull force causes intrusion and distalisation in molars, a spontaneous distal movement was seen in the teeth mesial to molars. At the end of the treatment a significant decrease in SNA angle and overjet, an increase in overbite were seen. The increase in SNB angle was not significant.
