ABSTRACT

Unilateral maxillary osteotomy added rapid maxillary expansion is one of the treatment methods used in the correction of unilateral transverse maxillary deficiencies. By this method, a dijferential anchorage situation is created, and activation of the expansion device will produce more expansion on the osteotomized side. When performed under proper circumstances and generai anesthesia, unilateral maxillary osteotomy is a fairly predictable procedure which carries little or no risk for the patient.
