ABSTRACT
Correction of buccal crossbites by expansion of the constricted maxilla results in space gain in maxillary dental arches and this could lead the orthodontist to nonextraction treatment. Rapid maxillary expansion is known to be contraindicated in high angle cases. To facilitate the use of RME in high angle cases, a modified design of acrylic bonded RME appliance was planned and three high angle growing patients treated without extraction by utilizing this appliance is presented. The desired goal of midpalatal suture widening was achieved with a slight molar and premolar tipping in transversal dimension and slight bite opening was observed. Severe crowding in the maxilla was resolved with RME treatment and ideal occlusion was achieved at the end of nonextraction treatment.
