ABSTRACT
It is agreed that impaired nasal breathing results in obligatory mouth breathing. Some clinicians believed that nasorespiratory function can exert a dramatic effect upon the development of the dentofacial complex; others disagree. The purpose of this article is to present a critical review of the literature concerning the effect of enviromental factors; nasal airway function and enlarged adenoids upon dentofacial morphogenesis.
