ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to search of the relationship between natural cervical, craniocervical, cranial posture and anterior dentoalveolar morphology. The comprised natural head posture cephalograms of 52 dental students aged 19-29 years. The 6 postural variables were studied on the lateral cephalograms. These variables describe the inclination of the cranial referance line (SN) to the true vertical and to the cervical column, the inclination of the cervical referansce lines (OPT and CVT) to the true horizontal and the curvature of the cervical column. The 15 dentoalveolar morphological variables were studied. These variables describe the anterior upper and lower vertical dentoalveolar heights, the inclinations and position of the upper and lower incisors and the anterior occlusion. The relationships between the anterior dentoalveolar morphological variables and the postural variables were evaluated by using correlation analysis. Inclination and position of the upper incisors showed significant correlations with the position of the head in relation to true vertical referance line, lower anterior facial height was found to be correlated with the position of the head in relation to the cervical column. Overbite displayed marked correlations with the inclination of the cervical colunmn to the horizontal referance line.
