ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to determine the demand for orthodontic courses by dentists in Turkey. The questionnaire was designed to determine the interest in both continuing dental and orthodontic education courses. Questionnaires were answered by 334 participants at a national symposium. The results showed that of those dentists responding, 63% had attended a continuing dental education course in the past. As 85% of the dentists were interested in attending a continuing orthodontic education programme, it could be concluded that there was a need for such a programme. The most popular topic was preventive orthodontic treatment, as identified by 82% of those responders who expressed an interest in orthodontics.
